Redundancy of the keyword "Radio button Checked/NotChecked"

Mar 12, 2021

Description: For Radio Buttons, at every line break the keyboard "Radio button Checked/NotChecked" is rendered everytime for the screen reader users which is confusing for them. Also, when screen reader users navigate the radio buttons using up arrow key, the incomplete sentence is rendered.
for example: for the radio button "Action 3: Tell them it was a pleasure working with them and by agency policy you can't accept gift, but thank them" it is reading with line break as "radio button notchecked Action 3: Tell them it was a pleasure working with them and by agency policy you can't accept" and then "radio button not checked gift, but thank them" for the screen reader users which will confuse them. Also, when they try to navigate using the UP arrow key, it first reads "radio button not checked gift, but thank them" and then "radio button notchecked Action 3: Tell them it was a pleasure working with them and by agency policy you can't accept". So this will be confusing for them as at first the incomplete information will be provided to the screen readers.

Hi Vijay,

Thanks for reaching out and sharing what you are experiencing in your project with NVDA.

I created a similar example following your image and I'm not experiencing the same behavior.

Here's my published output and what I'm hearing with NVDA:

I've attached my sample file below.
