Reset answer counter when quiz resets

Dec 08, 2017

Oh, I hope someone can help with this because I am at the end of my rope!

I have built a quiz of 30 total questions using a quiz bank. There are triggers in place that when you get 10 correct, you are taken to the final conclusion slide thanking the participants (the trigger used is "When the user clicks the button if Results.ScorePoints > = to 10.00). On the bottom of each question slide is a counter that keeps track of how many answers you've gotten correct using state changes (such as "Change state of answer counter - "0" to "2" if Results.ScorePoints = 2.00").

These all work beautifully.

Now, on the last question, if you didn't get 10 questions correct, you are told to return to the home screen, review the information, and try again. When you click on the button to take you to the home screen, there is a trigger to reset the results on the Results slide.

You go back to the home screen, click to get back to the quiz, and all of the questions are reset and are fine. When you get 10 questions correct, you are taken to the final conclusion slide, like you're supposed to. But - and I cannot for the life of me figure out why - the counter doesn't work the second time around. It just stubbornly stays at 0.

Does anyone have any thoughts? I'm seriously out of ideas.  I've attached a .story with the quiz (though I've cut out about half the questions so y'all don't have to wade through them all) and the home screen. Any insight would be deeply appreciated.

Thanks for sharing your file, Michelle! I took the entire quiz, got three questions correct, then restarted the quiz by clicking Continue on the Try Again layer.

When I restarted the quiz, the counter reset to 0, and it correctly added points as I selected correct answers.

It seems everything is working correctly in my testing, so I'm wondering if you and I are using the same version of Storyline 360. To check, click the Help tab, then click About Storyline. You should see 3.10.13923.0 in the bottom-right corner.
