I have a quizzing module that I am building and I need some help. My learner has the ability to fail the quiz and then retake it. Problem is when they go back through the quiz their previous answers are already selected. What do I need to do to get the quiz to reset?
How have you set up the "retake the quiz?" That is, are you using the retry button that is built into Storyline? This button automatically resets the quiz. In case you haven't, here's what you'd do:
After clicking on the Results Slide in your story
Click the Edit Results slide button in the right pane
Click the options tab on the right in the window
Place a checkmark in the "Allow user to retry..." check box
This will create a Retry Quiz button and, as you can see in the screen shot (via the dotted arrow), this button includes a trigger that resets the quiz questions.
If you have any questions, or if you've set things up a little differently, please shout out with questions.
OK so my results slide will only show Pass or fail and does not give an actual result. the learner is then directed back to a main menu if they pass or right into review if they fail. Withim my project there are 5 quizes that can be taken in any order. In other words they could fail quiz one, go back to the menu, take quiz 2 and then try to take quiz one again. The reset button only seems to work if my learner is going to repeat the same quiz over and over. Could I set up some trigger on my menu slide that could get it to reset? Or automatically reset if the learner fail? Could I do a reset quiz on my fail layer when the timeline ends? Thanks for the help!
That would be awesome and I would really appreciate the help!
The problem is I don't have anywhere to host it and certainly don't know how to upload it here. We are still working on getting integrated with an LMS and I new to this community. I would love to have you take a look at it if you can give me some guidance as to how I can make that happen I will get it done.
Thanks again and sorry or all the extra steps here!
You can upload a story by clicking the paper clip icon as seen in this screen shot, browsing to your .story file, and attaching it. I can't remember the maximum size for uploading here, but based on another conversation I had, I believe it's a least 10 MB. Hopefully, someone will jump in and let us know.
Hey I figured it out. From the story level you highlight all the slides in the scene and then to the right under the trigger panel there is a "When revisiting" drop down with reset to initial state option. Select that and it makes the quiz reset when they revisit it.
Seems to be working for now. When I get a final product I will know more!

Hi Phillip! Looks like Becky is taking care of you here, but I wanted to pop in and welcome you to E-Learning Heroes as well

Hi again, Philip,
At this point, at least for me, I think it would be easier if you could upload your story to get a better sense of what is going on.
Rebecca!
