Results Meter

Jun 27, 2016

I'm currently building a course that has 8 practice exams with 60+ questions and each exam has its own results slide at the end. I have included a meter graphic on my results slide that matches the results pass percent.  Every time I preview my course the results slide sort of works on my first attempt, when I get 100% the meter shows my 80% state. When I take the exam again the meter has kept the results from the first attempt score 80% not my current 50% score on the meter.

Why is my meter showing 80% state when I get a 100% score? I have attached a screenshot of my triggers for this slide and below the conditions set up for each trigger.

Meter Trigger results between two values

How do I get the meter to reset if the user wants to retake the exam? My slide properties is set to When revisiting: Reset to initial state.

I'm sure I have a trigger that is set up incorrectly but can't seem to sort out what is wrong.

Hi, Michelle! Many thanks for your questions and the images you have shared! While I will defer to your fellow community members to chime in with their ideas and recommendations, I thought I might mention that you would also be welcome to share your question over in our design-related Building Better Courses forum, as well.

Hi Christie and Russell!

Thank you both so much for getting back with me. Russell, your example was very helpful especially the way you had the trigger conditions set up on the graph. Unfortunately, these conditions on my meter did not working. I tried using layers instead of states thinking that was what was causing the trouble, it wasn't, so I just I went back to using states.

I'm still struggling to get the meter to change to any other state other than my 80%. When I deleted my 80% trigger, the meter just went to my normal 0% state and would not adjust itself to the results score. I'm thinking about recreating the results slide from scratch or abandon the meter graphic all together.

Russell, did you find working in increments of 5% gave a more accurate result? I'm thinking a 10% increment could possible be one of my issues. Also, it shouldn't make a difference if I don't have my questions set up in a question bank, right?

Hello Michelle,

Sorry for the late reply. I took an extra day off from work and had a 4 day weekend. If you are able to share your story file, I'll take a look at it for you. They accuracy depends on a few factors. Usually I award 1 point per question. If there are 20 questions, you will need increments of 5%. If there are 10 questions, 10% increment is needed. If you only have 4 questions, 25% increments are needed.

Soon I might not be able to provide much assistance to the community as the company I'm working for is declaring bankruptcy and I don't personally own Articulate Storyline.

Hi Christie, thanks for the advice I have attached a shorter exam for review purposes.

Hi Russell, I also took off for the 4th as well, so no worries. My point system is a bit more complicated, I have questions that range from 1-5 points each depending on the question.  This exam has 61 questions which you can skip all questions to see how the results slide is working, well not working. In another exams I tried to trigger the results slide like your file was set up using Greater than or Less than conditions but I didn't see the results meter move to match the score.

Any suggestions to get this meter to work would be greatly appreciated!
