Running out of space on Virtual Machine

Nov 09, 2018

I am running into the problems with not enough space on disk. I have read the other solutions and have not been able to fix. It seems every time I save the one file I have been working with the whole time, which is 2.24GB it is still creating temporary files that is not getting deleted. Where are these files located? When I first starting working on this file I had about 30GB free space on my virtual machine. I now have only 2GB and this is the only file I work with in Storyline and on the Windows side of my computer. I do have a terabyte of storage but the VMware fusion Windows 10 seems to have only allocated 60GB. At the beginning it seemed more that enough. Now I don't have enough space to save the file anywhere at all. How can I free up the space that these temporary file are using? can I go to the folder and try and delete these files?

Hi Michael,

I'd start by trying to delete some of those temporary files (and you may need to reboot your Windows environment after doing so) and let us know if that frees up some space.

Next, I'd also want to make sure you're on the latest update of Storyline 360, build 3.21.17083.0 as we've included a handful of fixes to help with folks running into storage limits.

Hi, Michael.

Good question! I saw this older discussion regarding a similar issue. Mel Ruth provided steps on where to locate temporary files, although she was on Windows 7:

Another thing is, I'm not sure if it is advisable to delete temporary files as you might need these just in case the project you're working on gets corrupted (knock on wood).
