Save or Save As Returns "The process cannot access the file" Error

May 02, 2023

I need to vent on this issue here, and I do it in the hopes someone has found a solution or workaround to address it.

It's been over a year since I started experiencing this error. Namely, anytime I go to "save" or "save as" the desktop app launches this error prompt. In the meantime, it creates a copy or a back copy of the file, even though it doesn't allow you to save. It's not always clear if the backup copies it creates have the latest changes. That is what is so frustrating and crazy making about this.

Once this error pops up, it won't let me save my file, it will keep going around in circles.

I have been on the phone for an extensive amount of time with the folks at Articulate and ugh, nothing absolutely nothing they've tried, I've tried, we've tried has worked.

We transferred by working files locally as a solution that they offered because you "can't" work on files on OneDrive or anything on the cloud. This idea worked for about 15 minutes, then when I went to save my file it started happening again.

Has anyone else experienced this at all and has found a workaround? I imagine this is something that is only happening to me, otherwise everyone might be outraged about this horrible glitch.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Haven't seen this one YET. I know when my computer downloaded Windows 11, which did not make me happy, I had to get my IT department to remap some stuff on my computer to get Articulate to work correct. Which didn't make them happy either.

I don't think you are having an Articulate problem; I think it is something on your computer. Not to let Articulate off the hook to quickly, but I would have your IT department see if they can track the save functions and get them back to your hard drive.
