Scenes Panel cannot be expanded - SOLVED

Jan 05, 2016

Hi All!

I am having a strange issue with the latest version of Storyline 2 (Update 7).

The Scenes panel worked great yesterday, I could undock the panel, expand it full screen on a second monitor, it behaved as expected.

Today the panel limits itself to a size which cannot be changed/expanded at all (see image). Scrollbars have appeared and are permanently stuck irrespective if the panel itself is resized, docked or undocked.

Scenes Panel Bug

Any suggestions?

Thank you in advance!

Kind regards,
Paul

Well I fixed my own problem...

  1. Saved the current project as a new version (i.e. v9)
  2. Closed Articulate
  3. Reopened Articulate
  4. Created a new blank project
  5. Closed the new blank project
  6. Reopened the previously saved new version of the current project (i.e. V9)

Now the Scenes Panel is back to normal resizing properly.

It is a strange one Leslie I haven't come across this one either.

Funny enough it happened again this morning. It looks like if you close Articulate Storyline 2 with the Scenes Panel Undocked this bug will occur. So here is the updated/optimised recovery process as there is no need to save a copy of the original project.

  1. Closed Articulate
  2. Reopened Articulate
  3. Created a new blank project
  4. Closed the new blank project
  5. Reopened your actual project.

It is funny it was only the other day that I started undocking the Scenes Panel as the project we are working on is really complex and having the Timeline panel on the second monitor and the Scene panel on the third monitor full screen is really beneficial.

As most people usually use one or two monitors this is not obvious as Timeline panel is the one the gets usually undocked.

Not a major drama as it is easy fix.

Ah, I know we had issues previously with multiple screens vs primary screen vs undocking panels. I will take a peek and see if this is something that has been reported before and will share with the team. Thanks for the details and scenario Paul - that is very helpful.

To prevent having to do all those steps when you start up, you may want to consider re-docking everything before closing. I think this could help your issue as well.

To redock all panels at the same time, go to the View tab on the Storyline ribbon and click Redock All Windows.
