Screen Capture Issues with Second Monitor

I'm using Storyline 360 and have done many simulations and demos with it in the past recording on my larger monitor.

When I capture screens it's acting very strange and not actually capturing my screen. I've tried several configurations with odd results. I have an immediate deliverable and I'd really like the room on my larger monitor not my lap top.

I've attached what I'm seeing and labeled the slides. Thank you for your help.

  • Hi, everyone!

I have some great news to share! We just released another update for Storyline 360. In Update 77, we've included important fixes and new features.

One of the enhancements we've included:

    • Storyline 360 now supports screen recordings on primary and secondary monitors with DPI settings over 100%.

Launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer to take advantage of this update, and click the Update button next to Storyline 360. You'll find our step-by-step instructions here.

Please let me know if you need additional help!

  • Hi Beckey!

Thanks for checking in! We haven't released a fix for this but we did find that the workaround is to have both a laptop and external monitor needs to be set to 100% in order to avoid this issue.

Let me know if you've already tried changing this setting and still seeing the same outcome!

Okay, I think that worked! Here's the trick, though: once you set both to 100%, you need to restart the computer. Storyline doesn't register that change until you do. Interestingly enough, this fixed my Publisher issue too, so thanks for that!

  • Hi Jackie,

Thanks for letting us know what's going on. We've seen this kind of behavior when using a secondary monitor and when the Windows Display setting is higher than 125%.

I'd like to have our Support Engineers take a closer look at your file and gather some more information about your machine. I'm going to start a case on your behalf, and you'll hear back from us soon!

I'm having this same issue! I'm a newly added member to my company's team account and we just discovered I'm the only one on the team having this issue. It matches Jackie's sample exactly. If I un-dock and record using only my laptop screen, it works fine. (Un-docking is a must, because just moving the recording to the laptop screen while docked didn't help.)

(FWIW, I also have major issues using Microsoft Publisher on the extended display. Not sure how that applies here, but...)

So, I'm curious if a solution came about. Thanks!

  •  I had a problem with Storyline freezing when trying to use the Trigger Wizard.

Storyline won't work properly when a second monitor has a display setting of higher than 125%.

If all of your monitors are set to below 125%, and you still have that problem, here is the solution:

Undock and try laptop alone. But undocking might not eliminate the laptop in thinking that the other monitors aren't available. You may have to select "Detect" (under Display settings, see attached jpg file) for the laptop to notice it's not connected to the monitors. It might still have to do with the "pop up" widget function of the trigger which usually has to do with a multi-monitor setting.

Special thanks to Cortney G in persistently seeking a solution for this problem.
