Scrolling Panel Bar causes a trigger?

Jun 07, 2022

Hi all,

I am creating a software sim with a web page sat in a scrolling panel so users can scroll up/down the 'web page'. On the slide the user has to select a hotspot (the correct input on the webpage) which is within the scrolling panel to move on. Should the user select outside of the hotspot a layer is shown with a hint.

Problem I have just noticed is that if the user uses the scroll bar for the scrolling panel this triggers the 'incorrect layer' as I assume it sees the scroll bar of the scrolling panel outside of the hotspot.

Have I missed something to stop this happening, or will it be a case of a work around.

Thanks for your help

Joe, Phil.

Thank you for your replies.

Appreciate your help. Phil, Thanks for your idea of a work around, I did look at that as an option, but was hoping there maybe something I was missing because as you  mentioned, not elegant and adds to the workflow.

Joe I have attached a couple of example slides from the project to give you an idea of what is happening.

Seems a slight annoyance if using the scroll bar in the scrolling panel also triggers certain events.

Thanks again.

Hi Adam,

Thanks for sharing your project file! I've attached a revised version of your project file with your triggers modified.

Instead of the 'clicking outside' action, I edited it so that the user will get a wrong answer whenever they click anywhere on the picture of your website. Here's a quick recording of how this change affects your slide:

Let me know if this works for you!

Thanks Joe,

Good help.

Tested it and works no more scroll bar triggers.

But unfortunately the only downside is your cursor on the page remains as a 'hand' and not cursor arrow. And seems unlike hot spots you can't change to show hand cursor or not show.

Step closer that's for sure.

Hi Adam,

You are very welcome. Part of the challenge here is knowing that the scrolling panel is an object that is part of the slide, so the trigger 'Show layer incorrect when user clicks outside of hotspot' will logically still fire because the scrolling panel is an object that is outside of the hotspot. I’m sure one of our talented community members will have suggestions on how to improve your slide interaction!
