Scrolling Panel Limitations in Storyline 2

Dec 22, 2016

Hello Everyone,

I am building a process flow diagram on a scrolling panel that consists of 19 boxes with the usual web of lines and arrows between each.  I have managed to get all the boxes(with text), plus the arrows in between the boxes added to the panel without difficulty. I still have some additional lines and arrows to add, but when I add them they won't scroll.
I also notice that the other objects do not appear separately on the Timeline. When I highlight them, the Scrolling Panel highlights.  These most recent additions appear as separate objects in the Timeline.

Is there a limit/maximum to the number of objects I can add to a scrolling panel?  I have a few of these process flows to include in this eLearning, so need an answer ASAP.

Thanks in advance,

Ruth

Hello Ruth!

I have not heard of a limit to the number of objects that can be added to a scrolling panel. One thing you might try is building your process flow diagram outside of a scrolling panel, select all objects in the diagram, then select Save As Picture. That way, your diagram will be one large .png image that can be easily inserted into a scrolling panel, as opposed to individual objects. Would that work for your design?

HI Alyssa,

Thanks for your reply. That is an interesting thought. I had thought of doing something similar except that several of the 'boxes' in the process flow need to have triggers to launch scenes where simulations will be presented. If I try that, I guess I could try overlaying transparent shapes to add the triggers to or add hotspots and see if I can get around the problem.

Thanks for the idea! :)
