Shape not appearing and animating on layers

Jun 19, 2021

This is a mystery: Triggers that worked once stop working. I delete and rebuild them, then they work (or not) once, and then stop working. The whole thing worked when first developed, but not now. I have rebooted several times and reinstalled Storyline. The action is simple:
     1.    On the cartoon virus, click a corona to trigger a question.
     2.    Answering the question takes you back to the virus and two actions                      should be triggered by the start of the timeline:

          A.   Either the Ouch layer or Still Here layer shows, depending on the                         value of the true/false variable WrongAnswer

          B.    The layer corresponding to the corona clicked (in my trials Corona 2                    triggers to show the corona animate off screen

The problem is that the Ouch/Still Here feedback and/or the layer animating the corona off screen do not work, despite the triggers being correctly configured:
Show layer Corona 2 Layer (the layer that animates the corona off screen)
When the timeline starts on this slide
If Corona2 = value False (hides the corona on the base image, set by a                       correct answer)
and Corona2StillThere = value True (Layer has not yet run, turned                                false by the layer itself when it runs)
The layers seem to trigger, but the shape and its animation do not appear.
I have rebuilt triggers, changed the order, triggered the Ouch layer inside the Corona 2 Layer, and everything else I can imagine, but it remains fluky.

I am using version 3.51.24979.0, reluctant to update to the newer version because of the bugs reported, and because this is the version used to create this project, and it initially worked correctly.

Any insight into this issue would be appreciated.

Hi, John.

Thank you for sharing your .story file!

Since I didn't see a motion path animation on Corona2, I used Corona4 on my test. You don't see the animation because you are triggering both layers at the same time (Ouch and Corona4).

Under Layer properties, uncheck the option to Hide other slide layers:

Here's the result:

I am also attaching the edited .story file with the changes (to Corona4).

Let me know if this helps!
