I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong here! I can't get my shapes as buttons to operate. My cursor activates when I hover over them in preview, but it doesn't show the visited state I created. The issue is in the top two shapes on my final slide in this presentation. I'm so appreciative of the help I get from you all! Thanks!
Hi Wendy! Thanks for your response. The issue I'm having is with the top two shapes on the final slide of the scene. For the aside you brought up--I know it's supposed to, but I tend to overfix because they don't always seem to work right. I'm sure it's related to me just not having my sea legs yet. Also, thanks for the screenshot--it helped me see that typo!!
I'm not sure why the states were working but I deleted the states and recreated just the visited state and removed the triggers to change the state to selected. If you do only want one shape to show at a time then you will need the selected state and you can create a button set, but I think you do want both to display when the user clicks.
Thanks, Wendy! I got your trick to work for the middle shape but not the top, so I ended up having to delete the top one, copy the middle one, and reformat it. I so appreciate your help! If I can ask, though--does this sort of thing happen often, where it just breaks for no reason and just trashing something and building from scratch is the best option? I'm very not confident still, and it's hard to tell when I've done something wrong and when the system just...isn't right.
Don't feel obligated to respond to this one; you helped me immensely!!
glad you got it sorted. There are times when things just go a little awry and it's best to rebuild. My rule of thumb for basic things likes shapes not responding to triggers is to work on it for 10 minutes - if I haven't got it working by then - trash it and start again.

Hi Kathryn
which slide are you talking about? I've checked a few and they are all responding to click and changing to visited.
As an aside - if you are using the built in state eg. hover, visited, selected you don't need to create a trigger as SL knows what to do
