I don't know of a way to add an animation to default Next button as you can't physically select it as an object but you could have it disabled or hidden on timeline start and then change to Normal when timeline reaches xx secs
Since it's a part of the player and not on the slide itself, it's not accessible for things such as animations. As Wendy mentioned you can hide or disable it's state and you'll see that described here. Also, you could look at removing those navigation buttons and building your own on the slide itself - that way you could add animations to them.

That's what I thought. The comment was expressed on a QA sheet for a module I'm working on.
