SL 360 Responsive Player vs SL2 HTML5 output?

Nov 17, 2016

I'm interested in seeing the difference in output between the SL2 HTML5 and the new "responsive player" in SL360. Specifically, is the experience better on phones?

I found this page

https://community.articulate.com/articles/comparing-the-storyline-360-responsive-player-with-adobe-captivate-s-responsive-solution

that refers to this page as a live example:

https://community.articulate.com/e-learning-examples/storyline-360-telecom-dial-interaction

But that page doesn't play at all on my iPhone. Does that page work for anyone else?

FYI, I am interested in being able to play on a phone, using an LMS to record data, and without a player app.

Thanks.

Hi there Dane!

One huge difference between Storyline 2 and Storyline 360 is the all-new responsive player in Storyline 360 will automatically display when you view Storyline 360 HTML5 courses on tablets and smartphones. It adapts to the screen size and orientation of any mobile device for the best viewing experience—no extra work required. Just publish your course and let the player do all the work for you.

The content will still track progress and results in AICC, SCORM, and Tin Can API (xAPI) learning management systems. Learners can even switch between their tablets/smartphones and their desktop/laptop computers in the middle of a course, and it'll still track properly in your LMS. And like you said, you can do all this without a player app. :)

To learn more about the responsive player, see these FAQs.

Also, I wanted to let you know that I was able to view that link on my iPhone. The link you shared above directs to the article - try this direct link to the Storyline 360 course, and let me know if it works for you.
