SL2 HTML5 Output for Web shows player and no content

Jul 12, 2017

Hi folks,

This may have been covered in another post/thread, but I couldn't find it. I have a course created with Storyline 2 and published for Web that runs fine in the Flash version, and in HTML5 on IE and Edge, but in Chrome only the player frame loads. No content comes up and the player features are not interactive.

I have tested this on the client's live web server as it is to be delivered, as well as republishing it and checking it out on my own web test folder and got the same result. (See image below.)

Suggestions?

Hi there Steve! You'll want to stick with using the latest version of Chrome, since it's a supported browser for Storyline 2 HTML5 content. That being said, let's narrow down why the content isn't appearing.

After publishing for Web, try uploading the zipped output folder to Tempshare. Do you see the same thing there?

If so, send us a copy of your file, and we'll have a closer look. You can attach it here, or send it to our Support team if you'd rather keep it private.

Hi Steve,

Storyline 2's HTML5 output is supported in Chrome ,and not IE or Firefox, so I would have expected the opposite! In Chrome do you know if it was trying to show the HTML5 or Flash output? Chrome has started to disable Flash by default, and although Storyline has the HTML5 fallback built in if you published as such - it may need a little help in Chrome.

Let me know if you can give those steps a test and if you're still having difficulty I'd want to give the .story file and/or your link a test! You can include them here in the ELH discussion and use the "add attachment" button to upload the file.
