I'm trying to use the slide number to my Storyline scene. My slides are generated by Storyline 360 splitting a recorded screen.
At beginning I tried to insert the slide number in the slide master, but the percentage doesn't show in my actual slides. The only way I found working is to insert them directly to every slide, but that's tedious. Is there a better way to automate the procedure?
Thanks for reaching out! You should be able to add slide numbers to master slides as well. It seems as though the image is blocking the percentage variable from appearing on the slide.
Thank you for looking into it! I have attached the story.
I tried to enlarge the slide size, and put the slide number to the very bottom of the slide master, but it still doesn't show. I couldn't change the display order of the recorded screen either.
Thanks for sharing your file! It does look like the screen recording may be covering the progress variable on your slides.
I've opened a case on your behalf for our support engineers to take a closer look and see if this is expected behavior and what solutions we can offer.
In the meantime, if you place the slide progress variable on a master slide layer, then it will appear over the base layer slide. I've also attached the file for reference!
Let me know if this works for you, and be on the lookout for a reply soon!
Since you have reviewed my story example, I have a relevant question. The progress number is blocking a small portion of my screen, so I want to expand the story size and hopefully have a blank area reserved at the bottom for the progress. But when I expand the story size, the recorded screen will not move to the top of the slide, instead it stays in the middle. What would be the recommended workflow?

Are you comfortable with sharing your .story file for testing? You can share it publicly here, or privately with our support engineers. We'll delete it when we nail down what's going on!

Hi Ren,
Thank you very much for sharing the solution. It works perfectly! I'm still learning but this layer structure seems to be super powerful!

Hi Rui,
I believe you're headed in the right direction! Instead of a 1-pixel adjustment, though, I went ahead and adjusted the height to 1000 px.
This gave me the extra space I needed below the screen recording. I hope this helps!
