Is there any way to deactivate the slide triggers, or change the state of them, so participants watch a video...without the triggers affecting the actions of the other slides?
I'm not sure I understand the question. Are you trying to disable the Next and Previous buttons on a slide until learners watched a video all the way to the end?
You could attach a condition to the slide triggers so that they only execute if a variable is True. This variable starts out as false and is set to true when the media (video) completes. See a quick example here: http://dev.keypointlearn.com/xcl71_SL/VideoForce/V1/story.html
Quick question; what are the two rectangle shapes in your timeline? Do they have anything to do with the condition states?
They don't have anything to do with conditions. I placed one shape over the video itself, so that clicking the video would not pause it. And the second shape over the video's seekbar prevents users from 'fast forwarding' through the video.

Yes. But I don't seem to be able to find "where" I can edit those buttons since they are part of the player.
Which Storyline version are you using?
Storyline 1.0 / Update 8: 1412.921 (purchased in 2013)

Thank you very much; I see I need to learn how to set variables and conditions.
I'm off the Documentation section!

Ok; thank you sir!
Wishing you a great day!!
