Slider skips a step

Oct 05, 2021

Hi,

Can anyone tell why this doesn't work:

Initial value is 3, but then the slider skips '0' and immediately goes to -3 and then -6.

Hi, Stefaan.

Thank you for reaching out!

We have a bug reported where the slider skips a step when starting or ending with a negative number, which is likely what you're experiencing.

I've connected this discussion to the bug report, and I'll be sure to come back to update you when I have some news.

In the meantime, here's a similar discussion that might provide you with a workaround.

Hi, Stefaan,

I found out a few years ago that sliders can't really handle negative numbers. I wanted to have sliders that went from -3 to +3. But they wouldn't stop a -1. I reported this to Articulate as a bug.

I just created a slider with your range: +3 to -6. Setting the steps at 1, the slider skips -2. Setting the steps at 3, as you did, the slider skips 0.

I assume that your issue is related to that bug that hasn't been fixed

You can report this directly to Articulate here:

Perhaps someday they'll fix this. Or, at least, perhaps they'll stop claiming that sliders work to -9999.

Hi everyone!

I have some great news to share. We just released another update for Storyline 360. In Update 75, we've included important fixes. One of the bugs we've fixed is:

  • HTML5: When moving the slider, it skips -1

Launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer to take advantage of this update, and click the Update button next to Storyline 360. You'll find our step-by-step instructions here.

Please let me know if you have any questions!
