STILL getting flickering when using hover state

Was this issue ever resolved as there were plenty of discussions started years ago and this is STILL an issue in Storyline.

Has anyone ever actually figured out a way of stopping this flickering bug?

  • Brian, I think you need to contact Articulate on this one. I think this is a computer issue not an Articulate issue. I have read some of the posts, and in the years, I have been using Articulate I have never experienced this issue, nor has any of the other users in my group.

  • There are times  when the flickering is legitimate and easy to solve.

One example is if the hover state has an unfilled area under the cursor. Or if the normal state is larger than the hover area, and there is no material at all under the cursor. Easily fixed.

Attach your slide here, and let someone take a look at it.

Hi Walt. Thanks for the offer of looking into it. I tried so many different things and could not stop the issue, so in the end I replaced the hover with a click and visited state to get around the issue. This of course involved adding a 'Change state' trigger to allow the user to click and remove the text that appears, so overall it does not feel as efficient but it was a solution none the less.

On your points, the object is a solid filled shape with a hover state that shows text below the hover button. The flicker only happens at the very edge of the button and actually beyond. Once the flicker started I could move the cursor slowly away from the main shape and the flickering would remain, which was very strange as the cursor was literally nowhere near the shape itself.

  • Is the hover the shape with added text box, or is it just the text box?  If it happens only at the edge, and not the center, that can be caused by the hover state being slightly mis-aligned with the Normal state. (When creating custom states, always start by duplicating Normal.)

As to continuing to flicker after the cursor is moved off, that’s a mystery to me.
