Storyline 1 Variables

Sep 19, 2014

Now that I have (for the moment) addressed my assessment slide, I have a question about the variables involved.

After some thought, I realized that my "extra" variables may have been created when I duplicated a slide.  For example, I have a variable called "AircraftTextEntry1" that is the text field for aircraft identification.  (These triggers seem to be "Player" triggers and not "Slide" triggers.)  If I then duplicate this slide to create a new Identification activity, I now seem to have "AircraftTextEntry2" in my list of variables. Given that I want students to be able to correctly identify 50+ aircraft, I can see this getting messy very quickly.

Therefore, am I correct in saying that if I have more than one screen that uses the multiple correct answer fill-the-blank activity, I can only use each text entry field once?   Given that I want students to be able to correctly identify 50+ aircraft, I can see this getting messy very quickly. What's the risk of re-using the variables from the first screen instance and ignoring the ordinal clones?

Thanks, Brian.  That pretty much confirms my suspicion, and if I wanted to do a Results slide, the overwrite is exactly what would happen. As a simple reinforcement activity with no cumulative results it may not be an issue.

However, it's good to know for down the road.  I'll talk with the client and see how they want to handle it.

Cheers!
