Storyline 2 preview function, hotspots and importing

Sep 26, 2014

I just installed Storyline 2 yesterday and am finding that it takes much much longer to preview a slide or a scene. Is this a bug?

Also, when I imported my Storyline 1 modules, unfortunately the player settings and fonts changed throughout on each slide, e.g. all my customized buttons suddenly had shadowing. It took me 2 hours to redo everything. Is there another solution when importing to avoid this?

And I also noticed the Insert Hotspot is no longer in the toolbar, and after googling I read that you now have to insert a new hotspot interaction slide in order to be able to create hotspots. In Storyline 1 it was so practical to be able to just insert them wherever needed. Is this still available in Storyline 2?

Thanks for your help!

HI Allison,

I can't speak to the first question (I'll have to test it), but if you shouldn't be finding things getting mucked up.  If you continue to see this behavior, please file a bug report so our team can take a look.

As for the Hotspots, you can find them in the controls area (see image below).  No need to add a hotspot interaction.   The author of the article you found may have been trying to quickly get something to publish without actually playing with the software.  I've seen a fair amount of that lately!   Could you share the article you found?  I'd love to see it.

Have fun!

I don't know how I missed that one! It was right there! Thanks!

The only thing I found was this: http://community.articulate.com/tutorials/products/hotspot-questions-in-articulate-storyline-2.aspx explaining how to use the hotspot interaction, but it mentioned nothing about this shortcut.

Thanks again! Very much appreciated.

Allison
