Storyline 3 Flash and HTML

Jan 14, 2021

I have a module that will publish to HTML or HTML/Flash in storyline but when uploaded to LMS it will not play. I receive an error that states, "the feature on this slide has been disabled while viewing locally because your browser does not support it." This module was designed in Storyline 2 and updated to version 3. It uses Storyline screencast features, motion paths and storyline animation. I understand that flash is no longer working, but I have no idea what animations in storyline use flash. Can someone tell me what features in storyline use flash, and is there a workaround so that the module will work  so that I do not have to recreate a module?

Hi Charity,

I'm sorry to hear you see that error when playing a course in your LMS! If you suspect it's a Flash issue, this discussion may help point you in the right direction:

The easiest way to check for Flash is to look for .swf files in the published course. If you see files with that extension in the story_content folder, the course uses Flash.

You would also see references to .swf files in the imsmanifest.xml file if the course uses Flash.

If you would like some help in sorting through this, our support engineers are available 24/7 and are happy to take a look at your .story file. You can share it using the link below.
