I have inserted Text to Speech in my course, and it works fine when I preview. The problem is if I select Previous to go back a slide, the Text to Speech doesn't play again. Is this a setting somewhere that I am missing?
Have you looked at the slide properties for the slide with the audio on it? Be sure it is not set to "Resume saved state." That might not be the issue, but it seems like a good first place to look.
David made a great suggestion! You can check your slide properties by clicking on the lower right cogwheel below the Slide Layers box, and selecting Reset to Initial State in the When revisiting: drop-down menu.
If you find that this isn't the cause, feel free to share your file publicly with us in this discussion here to take a closer look. You can also share it privately with our support engineers if you'd like. As always, we'll delete after testing.
