Storyline - Quiz Help

Jun 28, 2022

Hi everyone! 🙋‍♀️

I'm attempting to revamp our final assessment for my team's training class. Previous versions of this final exam were created in Articulate Quizmaker, so I'm working towards getting everything converted and updated into Storyline.

In doing so, I've come across the following issues that I'm hoping someone can assist me with. :

  1. Is there a way to force users to answer ALL questions prior to submitting their exam? In our Quizmaker version, we have the option in player settings under "Answer Submission" for "Submit all at once" to uncheck "Allow user to finish without answering all questions" which ultimately forced the students to return to skipped questions before they could submit.
    • Our exam is 50 questions so this is a really important warning for them. Is there a trigger or variable that I can set to force students to answer all questions before they are taken to the results slide?
  2. Is there a way to remove the check marks in the menu of the "Modern" player for viewed slides? I'm worried that if a student sees that check they might think they answered a question rather than simply viewed the slide.

"Slide Viewed" Check Marks in Menu

Thank you in advance!

Hi, Liz.

Thank you for reaching out!

Is there a way to force users to answer ALL questions prior to submitting their exam?

Graded questions are always required (learners cannot skip them) by default if you are submitting them one by one. Ungraded (survey) questions can be required or optional:

The only way that questions will be allowed to be submitted without an answer is if you choose to submit them at once, at the end of the quiz:

Is there a way to remove the check marks in the menu of the "Modern" player for viewed slides?

You can avoid the check marks by adding your questions to a question bank, and in the Player Properties > Menu, leaving Show Slide Draw Contents unchecked (click the gear icon next to the question bank). In this case, the questions will not be individually listed on the menu.

I hope this helps!

Thank you Maria. Those were the answers I found through the discussion boards and unfortunately not what I need for this particular exam.

With the way my team wants their exam formatted, it's a timed exam and users need to submit answers all at once. They need to see the question numbers in the menu to return to those questions should they choose to skip.

For now, we are just stressing the importance of writing down question numbers and reviewing all questions to make sure an answer is selected prior to submitting. We're also stressing that checkmarks = visited slides and NOT answered questions.

I appreciate your time!
