Dragging and dropping slides does re-number the slides within a scene. But dragging scenes around will NOT re-number scenes. Refer to David's Screenr for a nice work around.
Thanks Burce. This does help. However,STRONGLY recommend poeple save their work after EVERY cut and paste becuase if you have a large course, it can easily get very messed up.

If you click on the Story View tab, you can drag and drop the slides around. This will change the scene and slide numbers.
This is the quick and easy solution. I hope it helps!

one point to note is if you have triggers that jump from scene to scene you have to be extra careful and recheck all of them after sorting
