Storyline Triggers for Basic Slide Order

I am trying to complete my first Storyline project for work. I was relying on the basic "jump to next slide" trigger that seems to be the default. Unfortunately, everything (slide order) is jumping around when my colleague reviewed the WBT project for me.
I am unable to add a simple trigger that would connect to a specific slide, as in the NEXT slide in the project. It is not giving me the option of selecting "Next Button / Swipe Next," which I clearly see in my colleague's completed Storyline project.
In short, it is not letting me a trigger for anything, including new objects I've added to the page just to experiment.

Can you attach a video of what happens when you try to add a trigger?
Thanks for your response. I connected each slide to a specific slide, instead of just "next slide." However, the slides were still jumbled in the Menu when I would review/publish the course. So, I had to manually organize the slides in the Menu in Player.
Do you know why my slides would not automatically appear in order in the Menu?
Yes, the menu doesn't change on its own, but you can go to the player, and use this icon to organize the menu to reflect the current story lineup.
