Storyline user compatibility and avatar animations

Jan 07, 2016

Hi all,

Im a complete novice so excuse the questions if they are obvious.  Background is I am researching e-learning modules for my husbands business which is a training company - to date their training has been delivered face to face and he is getting increased demand for online modules.  My husband and his associates are qualified instructual designers so from a content point of view we are OK. In terms of design, interactivity, platforms.  Planning to use Articulate Storyline for the 'design' of the courses and 'upload' it onto Mindflash (or similar) as the LMS platform.

A couple of questions from me:

1- I use a MAC and since I'm a complete novice I got excited by the free trial and discovered when I did the download that I need to obtain Parallel or similar so the creation of content can happen as Articulate is Windows not MAC compatible.  This is fine, but got me to think whether the end designed product is both MAC and Windows compatible?

2- We would like to add an avatar animation to the course - are there any particular software avatar animation packages that are compatible?  Less cartoon like more 'professional' presenter  avatars as my husbands clients are  fraud, compliance professionals etc so need a more serious tone.  My brother is a qualified 3d animator so may connect with him after doing some preliminary due diligence.

3- Anyone have any recommendations on articulate and a particular LMS platform?  Mindflash looks appealing but interested to hear others opinions.

Thanks!

Hi Sara!

You can check out our full list of authoring and viewing requirements in our documentation here, and yes, that includes Mac. We have some photographic characters available if needed. See this tutorial for details. If you are looking for a 3rd party or suggestions from the community, hopefully they will pop in to assist you here.

Good luck in your decisions and new venture!
