Synching a text box or image to audio in a layer. Multiple layers needed?

Oct 24, 2014

I'm creating a Presentation Essentials course in which a guest presenter shows a slide.  The user clicks on the presenter icon to hear the presenter's explanation.  There's a Coach's icon on the other side.  When the users click on it, the coach gives her suggestions, tips etc.  The presenter and coach icons and audio are in the same layer.  What I need however, is a key learning point (checkmark and test) to pop up at a certain spot during the coach's commentary.  I cannot figure out how to do this on the layer's timeline.  I cannot set a variable to "show teaching point at a certain point in the coach's audio." Do I need to create a layer just for the coach's commentary?  The base screen has 8 different sets of elements and icons with audio, so I'm running into a LOT of layers if I have to do that.  Any ideas?  Attached is the prototype, if anyone can help. Go to screen 3. Thanks tons!

Hi Lisa,

I would say to put the coach's comment on another layer - as it stands right now, even if you tried to set up the checkmark and text to appear at a certain point on the slide's timeline, it may be synced with the audio's timeline as the audio is triggered and so those two elements may not line up. If you put the coach's audio and text on it's own layer - based on when the user clicked it, they'd be able to stay together and timed appropriately.
