Text is flipping upside-down

Feb 19, 2015

We've created a template in Powerpoint that will be used to create a whole bunch of classes, but when we open the presentations in Storyline, the numbers on our list-tabs are upside down.

Each number is in a small text box, and in PPT it looks fine, and the rotation is zero.  But when we open it in Storyline, the rotation is 180.

I've seen others post with this problem, and the answer usually is to go into the properties and change the rotation back from 180 to 0.   But that's not really a practical solution when it's happening five times per slide, on about 20 slides each in multiple presentations that will be published in multiple drafts...

Any idea what's causing this, or how it can be fixed at the root?

Hi Shirley,

I'm not seeing a particular thread or issue that connects to this, but there is an issue detailed here in regards to objects that have a rotation within Powerpoint and how that'll import into Storyline. You'll also want to confirm you're working on local project files as described here.

If you're still having difficulty, could you share an example of the powerpoint file here with us?

Hello Shirley,

Is the textbox grouped with any other object on the slide?

Sometimes grouping a textbox with a rotated object can cause issues.

The best option is to set the textbox back to 0, if the rotation has changed, however I am not sure of a way to do this to all of them at once. You could also do a "save as picture" on the text boxes and re insert them as images.
