Text To Speech (SAPI) Storyline Functionality
Mar 21, 2014
I am a longtime Captivate user. Captivate's TTS capability saves us a great amount of time, and our purchased SAPI4 and SAPI5 voices have been well received by our internal clients. Captivate allows the writer to add text as "notes" to each slide. And then, either by slide or by project, Captivate will convert the text in the slide notes section to an audio file for that slide. It saves us tons of time, and the voice quality is quite good.
Does Storyline offer a similar function (I cannot find it)? We would like to use our purchases ($$$$) SAPI voices.
Thanks

Hi Jack welcome to the Articulate community. Storyline does not have a TTS function you can request a feature here

Does Storyline 360 have SAPI 5 compatibility? It's great that we now have Storyline TTS, but what if you want to use other voices?
Hi LB,
There are a handful of voices within Storyline 360's Text to Speech and we're continually adding more. I'm not incredibly familiar with the SAPI 5 Compatibility, so I'd love if you could provide a bit more detail to our Product team through a feature request!
Hi Ashley! I'm curious if you know when more voices may be added? Also, do you know if these voices can be edited in Storyline? - to add inflection or emphasize a word... or if the voice pronounces a word incorrectly?
Hi Leah,
We just added a new French female voice (named Léa actually!) and we're continuing to add new voices and languages. You'll always see these noted in our version history for Storyline 360 here.
As for pronouncing certain words, I've heard from a few other users it helps to spell things out phonetically to be read correctly.
Nice! Thank you for this info.
