Things getting reverted to the original text/trigger

Sep 08, 2016

Hello,

I am creating an interactive course in storyline 2. I am facing a problem of text and triggers getting reverted to the one where we had copied them from some another slide in the course.

Hi,

I`m sorry but I don´t understand what you want to do with your text/trigger and whats wrong with them.

What does the not working trigger do and what should it do? Can you attach a storyline file containing the impacted slides or screenshots of the slide and trigger?

When a trigger e.g. jumpes back/forward to an other slide when the user clicks a button, maybe you should check the trigger of this button causing to jump.

Greetings,

Hi Susi,

The problem I face is that if I duplicate a slide and change the text/ variable names, some of them get reverted to the one from which I have been duplicated the slide from.

For e.g. I have duplicated question 1 to make question 2 my question text of 2 is been reverted to the text from 1.

Please suggest!

Is it a text entry box and when you change your duplicated text entry it shows the entered text from the second text box in the first one too?

You should take a look at your trigger. Everywhere you have triggered with the first variable you have to change it to your new second variable. Maybe that´s your problem.

I always create all variables first before working with them and then copy the element with the first variable and change the trigger of the new element to the second variable. If you work with conditions you should change them there too. You should also have a look at your text entry elements, they should not have the same name on different slides.

Hope that helps.

Susi

Hi Abhijeet,

If you're still having difficulty it may be easier to assist if you're able to share a copy of your .story file here with us? You can attach it using the "add attachment" button at the bottom of the reply window when you visit this page.

I'd look at creating new question slides as well, as duplicating it I would expect it to match the first one.
