Time counter

Storyline has a timer associated with the results slides for quizzing - but I'm not sure that would fit with your needs. If not, you'll need to look into something more custom as Michael mentioned. 

Actually, what the customer meant is to show the learner how much time has passed, and how much time remains to the end. "Time" means the unit time, not the actual time it takes to the learner, since this depends on the individual... 

So, maybe a simple counter that shows time in seconds and minutes will do, like a digital clock.

Isn't there a simple clock function that can be started when you first operate the learning unit?

The results slide options is the only element available within Storyline - so otherwise you'd need to utilize something custom as Michael mentioned or look to your LMS for a timer/clock fucntion.
