Timeline expanded on multiple slides

Jun 02, 2014

I've been using SL1 for several years.  I never saw this before and would like to know if anyone else has:

I published a course for customer review.  Every slide that had audio less than 31 seconds had the timeline extended to 30.7 seconds adding a lot of unwanted silence to half the slides.  Any slide with more than 30.7 seconds was fine.

I wouldn't know how to do this intentionally and am wondering if it is an isolated event or did I do something?

Has anyone else seen this?

Hi Sam,

If you originally had added audio or other media to the slide, the timeline would expand to accommodate it, but if you were to remove it - the timeline would not "collapse" back to the nearest object on the timeline so you'd need to drag it back to a position of your choosing.

A reboot is a good start - and you'll also want to check the other usual suspects:

  • Work on your local drive (your C: drive).Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, includingfile corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
  • You should also make sure the directory pathto your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters(for example C:\Articulate).
  • Avoid using special characters, accents orsymbols in your file names.

Since it seems to also have occurred on more than one file, it's also worth looking into conducting the repair of Storyline.
