Timing of objects

Hi there - I am new at this - but, I think I am running into a glitch.  I have told my icon and two text boxes to change states from hidden to normal when the user clicks on a corresponding text box.  That works just great.  Then I want those same objects to change states back to hidden when the corresponding audio completes - which I have told them to do.  But, they are not behaving!  They will decide to hide themselves again prior to the audio completing.  There is nothing in the timeline or animations that would make them go away!  I am so frustrated.  Any suggestions? 

I have a total of six sets of pics/text boxes/audio that are coming and going on this slide with the user clicking/audio completion as triggers for start and end of state changes - and most of them are behaving properly as I have set up the triggers... but, two of them are being wonky.

Also - am I crazy for wanting this - but, why can't we apply states to grouped objects?  That would make life sooo much easier.  Are the fine and talented developers already working on that?  Or is that possible and I just don't know how to do it?
