Hi Richard, welcome to the community. You could do this with an object that sits offstage. Simply attach a trigger to that object to show the layer when the object's timeline starts. Then arrange the object on the timeline, so that (for example) it starts 5 sec. into the slide.
If you want to tie the layer to an object that is actually displayed on slide, then by all means attach the shows layer trigger to an object that's visible on the slide. Using an offstage object ensures that the layer is displayed, no matter what is shown on the slide. Options, options, options...
Like with Michael's example, sometimes it's necessary to think outside the box - or rather, off the stage - by associating triggers to objects that the learner can't see.
I'm glad Michael and Simon were able to assist you here, and I just wanted to let you know that the issues with the search functionality in the forums is something our web team is aware of and working on for future updates to the Heroes site. In the meantime, you may want to use a method such as the on Adrian describes below, it's what staff uses for searching.

Thats great Michael. Just tried that, and it works. I got the result I wanted.
However, I didn't have the object sat off stage as then it wouldn't appear. Not sure I understood that bit.
Best regards
Richard
