Transferring manually coded courses to Articulate Storyline 2

Feb 21, 2017

Hi, I work for a company who has previously outsourced all of their e-learning development. We have about 30 courses built in html5 ("manually coded") that we want to be able to transfer to an authoring tool to then maintain in-house. Is it possible to do this with Articulate? I need to be able to outline the actual process and estimate the time and effort required to do this as part of a business case, in order to get the funds assigned to purchase the product.

Can anyone offer advice on this?

Hi Sarah,

You'll need to start building those within Storyline as there isn't a way to transfer that code in and have the course work as you're seeing it right now. I thought you may want to take a look at a few other older discussions about how to estimate time and expense associated with course building, so I included a few links below:

You'll see that there is alot of opinion and ideas shared there from other ELH community members, so hopefully that also helps as you price out the purchase. If you need any help from our team for pricing, you can find our Success team here - they'll be happy to help!

Unfortunately I'll "ditto" these responses and this isn't a knock against Articulate. This will be true for any authoring tool you choose.  If you have a lot of content, there are some tools (usually LCMS in nature) where they can do a mass conversion if there is consistent XML or structure in the course and convert them for you, but there is a cost with that too.

If you have a consistent design you can develop templates/slide masters etc. that can help speed the process.
