Trigger Audio Files with Variable
Mar 06, 2015
Hello, I'm new to Articulate, but have been working hard to learn the program and go through all of the tutorials. I'm now building the layout for my first course...
I'm planning to have my user return to a table of contents after completing each section. When they return I want the appropriate audio file to be triggered. So I set up a T/F variable that changes to 'true' when the user finishes a section and returns to the table of contents page. I set a layer with the audio to start when that variable is 'true'... But it doesn't work. The variable changes to true, but the layer doesn't start. What have I done wrong?

Without seeing the file I can only guess... Are you using the "When Variable xyz changes" option on the trigger? This option is limited to where the change happens, in your case that's the end of a section, not the table of contents. You can always post your file here so that we can have a look.
Thank you for the quick reply! I'm attached a file that I built just to test this all out... But it sounds like I may not be able to build it the way I was going to. Do you have a suggestion on a better way to do it?
Have a look at the attached file and see if that's what you want. I changed the trigger that plays the second audio file to "When timeline starts".
Awesome. Thank you!
Glad that Michael was able to assist you here Chad :)
