try adding a selected state 'orange' to the exam button. When timeline starts it will be normal blue and then when the user clicks it will change to orange. I think that is what you mean?
Yes correct but because of the trigger above that "Change State of Exam to Normal if Results1.Score equals 100" is will always obey this command and not the fact that the button has been visited.
! go through Lesson 1 - do an exam and if I pass I can come in to Lesson 2 Main menu. Here the Exam button will be displayed if I passed lesson 1 exam and hidden if I didn't pass Lesson 1. Does the learner return to this main menu after they have completed lesson 2 and exam 2?
"I go through Lesson 1 - do an exam and if I pass I can come in to Lesson 2 Main menu. Here the Exam button will be displayed if I passed lesson 1 exam and hidden if I didn't pass Lesson 1."
So bascially all I want to achieve is that if you select the Exam button it will retain the Organge visited state if you click it...at the moment it reverts back to the the Normal State.
Ok... because the Exam button is in normal state (blue) as a default you don't need to have the trigger to change it's state. So I removed it from Lesson 1 and 2 to test and it works. You only want to change state to hidden if they fail the test. Now when you progress through if you click previous button it will stay Orange (visited state). Hope this helps...the file is huge so I won't try and upload unless you can't get it working...let me know how you go.
The exact same issue is there...when you pass the first exam in lesson 1 the second exam is hidden in lesson 2...that is why I had to put that extra trigger in.
It really does not make any sense...the trigger says it will also hide if the score is less than 100.

Does that make sense?
hi Wendy
I added the Selected State but it still goes back to blue....see screnshot
Graham
how many attempts are you giving them to retake the exam? Might need to add a variable to fix the issue
Hi Wendy
The client wants his group to have unlimited attempts to take the exam as they need to pass the exam in order for them to gain access to the system.
I just can't think of a clean way to do this....its so frustrating as I feel I've done alot of the hard work now and I can't get a color to change :)
Ok now I think I am having a meltdown.
Am I understanding correctly:

Do you want to upload the .story file?
hahahaha...you are spot on up to this point

Time for a drink ;-)
Hi Wendy
Hope the drink was strong.....cause I'm back :)
So I did as you said I removed that trigger but now the Exam button is not showing upin Lesson 2 when I correctly pass the exam in lesson 1.
See 3 screenshots attached....am I missing something fundamental here?
Thanks in advance
Or mayvbe you could send me the file you adjusted....whatever is easier for you.
Here you go

Hi Graham
I must be misunderstanding the steps then. I have taken a screencast of what I am doing see attached published output
Wendy your a genius! It worked....I followed your exact steps the first time...I wonder if you need to save the file before they kick in?
Thank you so much!!!!
Thank goodness - lol...now I can sleep...it's 3am here in Australia. Good luck with your project
