Triggers are lagging and very slow
May 03, 2023
Hello. I recently got a new Mac Mini (M2) with 32 gigs of Ram. Storyline seems much slower with my new machine (mostly with triggers). I use Parallels and have allocated most of my RAM to the virtual machine. I've also followed guidelines here for Windows 11 and optimum performance.
The lagging and slow functionality is really bad. Just completing a simple trigger takes about 5 times longer than it used to or should.
Don't know what else to try? I've uninstalled/reinstalled, followed tips from Parallels, this site, etc...
Any ideas? Thank you in advance.

Is it possible that it could be the file? I've used this file and modified it several times. Each time I delete all variables and start from scratch basically only using it as a template (and Master Slides). I've renamed the file, removed all media, etc...
Hi Steve!
Sorry to hear you're experiencing slowdowns while trying to set up your triggers! I'd be happy to help troubleshoot the issue!
I just had some follow-up questions first:
It would be helpful to see the file in question so we can test the performance on our end. Would you be willing to share it here in the discussion or privately through a support case?
We'll delete it from our system once troubleshooting is finished!
I'm happy to provide you a sample file. The attached is only 1 slide but I'm experiencing the same issue with all other files as well.
Thank you for looking into this!!! The delays are killing my production (not to mention my frustrations).
Sorry Steven as I did not answer your questions.
Yes, I work from my local hard drive.
This is happening to all courses (from template or scratch).
I've not tried importing.
I've uninstalled and re-installed Storyline multiple times with no change in results.
Thank you again!
trigger window in storyline seems to be a common problem with M1, M2 cpu and parallels

hint: don't use the trigger wizzard to modify trigger, use the trigger panel
Hi Steve,
Thanks for sharing your file! I understand Storyline is running very slowly primarily when you are working with triggers. I opened your file and was able to add and edit triggers with little delay. I also looked up the tech specs on the Mac Mini and it falls well within the system requirements to run Storyline. I'm going to open a support case on your behalf to see if our support engineers have any insight into the issue. You will be hearing from them soon.
Thank you Jurgen.... Unfortunately, I have the same problems when modifying.... I'm hopeful (and thankful) a support case has been opened to assist me. Thank you for your response!!
They claim to have fixed this issue with the June 20th update. Can anyone confirm their experience? Is it better? If so, how much better? Just as good as native pc, or still a bit slower?
Experience is better, still slower than a PC but definitely better
