Triggers in States. Possible?
Oct 01, 2015
Can you set a trigger (like a button) to be used when a state is activated? I'm attempting to add a hover state to access a clickable menu bar. Specifically, I have a title within a shape on my title page. I want the learner to hover over the title and be presented with a menu bar. This all works beautifully; however, the icons aren't able to be fitted with triggers. I don't think I can add buttons or any other type of trigger either. Any ideas?

You can certainly trigger an action if state of object xyz=Selected, Hover, etc. It may be easier to help if you could share your .story file here.
Hi Ashley! Looks like Michael has popped in to assist you here :)

Thanks for taking a look.
The goal is to "get rid" of the entire player and have the FAQs and Resource tabs moved to the menu in question.
It might be better to use a layer for this.
So, instead of putting the menu into the hover state of the title, use a trigger to show a layer (which has the menu in it) when the user hovers over the title.
HI Ashley, Great question! Click on "Player" and un-select Resources and FAQs in the Player Tabs. Then, while you cannot add Controls to objects in states, just add a trigger to the main graphic that shows a layer upon mouse hover. This layer can include your three buttons and can link to other layers. See your modified SL file attached as an example. A possible suggestion here may be to keep your FAQs, Resources, and other user-friendly buttons available at all times to your end users.
You guys are awesome. I love the layer idea Midi, and Richard, thanks for the file. I think you're completely right about making it always accessible. I think between these ideas I'll get to where i need to be. Thanks again!
Hi Ashley!
