Trim Tool in Video Editor
Jul 08, 2015
Anyone out there having issues with the Trim tool in the video editor in SL2? The blue area that you move to trim will not move. It freezes the system for 30 or so seconds at a time. I have had some buggy success in the past but it is not user friendly in the least. Also when trimming, when I click the timeline to select where I want the video to start is jumps either forward or back about half an inch. Depending on the length of the video, a half inch can be anywhere from 5 seconds-3 minutes. It requires me to watch from there to get to the point I need to edit. I have tried this on multiple machines as well as working off of a shared drive opposed to my desktop. This has been on ongoing problem for months.

Hi Matthew,
I haven't experience those issues myself, but it sounds like something I'd suggest starting with a repair of Storyline - and you mentioned testing it off your shared drive as well, and you'll want to ensure that you're working locally as opening a file from the shared drive could be a root cause and the behavior would persist in that file even once returned to the local drive.
Does anyone know if this fixed this issue? I'm experiencing the SAME issue with the video trim function in SL2 but I just installed the program for the first time recently!
Hi, Tara -- Thanks for reaching out and sorry to hear of your troubles! May I ask if you are only experiencing this with one file in particular or is it during any instance where you attempt to use the trim tool in the video editor?
Hi Tara!
As you can see here, we did not hear back from Matthew on this issue and this thread is a bit dated. You are welcome to reach out to him directly if you wish, but I would certainly advise the repair option that Ashley shared above.
