trouble with markers and variables

Oct 23, 2018

Another noob question from me.  I'm trying to make a navigational slide using markers, layers, and variables.  The idea is that the learner will click the pulsing marker and that will reveal a brief lecture.  Once the lecture ends, the first marker disappears and a new pulsing marker appears on the graph, which upon clicking will reveal the next lecture (and so on).  I tried to accomplish this using variables but failed.  I also tried to use a trigger to change the state of the marker to "disabled" by making the marker transparent but the pulsing continued.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Greg! Happy to help!

Check out the changes I made to your file in the attachment below. Here's a summary of what I did!

  • I made 3 layers, but of course you can follow the same design using as many layers as you like.
  • I placed all markers on the base layer. The first marker is in the Normal state, the rest are in the Hidden state.
  • Layer 1 opens when the user clicks the first marker. Once the audio completes, the first marker is hidden, and the second marker is revealed.
  • Layer 2 opens when you click the second marker. Once the audio completes, the second marker is hidden, and the third marker is revealed.

The beauty of this setup is, no variables are needed! Let me know if you have any questions after taking a look.
