When importing a PowerPoint with embedded audio, the wheels just keep turning but the PowerPoint never gets imported. When attempting to cancel the Insert Slides window, it does not cancel out of it. Cannot close the application either.
Are your project files on an external source (USB drive, network drive, etc.), by any chance?
Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).
Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names.
Additional information regarding "Naming Files, Paths, and Namespaces" in Windows operating systems can be found in the following Microsoft article.
If you've confirmed that the files are local, are you able to open the original PowerPoint file in PowerPoint without any errors? If so, can you please create a new, blank Storyline course and see if you're able to import the file into the new course?
Thank you for you reply! Yes, it's off a network and I had a feeling this was an issue. The other issue is that if there are Engages within a published storyline, they also do not display off a network drive.
Also, for naming conventions, does it matter if we use a combination of lower and upper case letters, or should we only use lower case?
Yeah, working of the network like that can cause some issues - sometimes some pretty strange ones
Capitalization shouldn't have any affect when it comes to naming or paths. I have seen some strange behavior with spaces and underscores, though, they seem to be the trickiest characters.
