Undoing Variables
Oct 05, 2015
Hello,
We have built a tool that asks the user 4 questions. Depending on how they answer each question, a value is added to the variable titled Score. At the end, they click to see their results and are taken to a new path depending on which range their score falls in. Is there a way for them to go back and undo the variable? Each time they select an answer, it adds the value to the score variable. I am afraid if they go back, click a different answer, it will just keep adding up. It won't undo their original selection. Any advice?? Thanks!

Hi Jessica
hard to say without seeing your story file.
Does each question only have one response ? If so, have you set up button sets so that only one response can be selected at a time, that way you could add/subtract to your score when the state is / isn't selected. Hope that makes sense
Each questions has 2 answers to choose from, but they can only choose one. I didn't set it up as a quiz question though but rather just slides with text boxes and two buttons. Is your suggestion meaning it would need to be set up as a quiz question? Or is a regular slide okay?
You will have to add a slide trigger to adjust the variable back to its initial value when the timeline starts. This variable should be at the top of the trigger list. This will reset the score each time the user revisits the slide.
Hi Jessica
see attached example if that helps you. Each group of two options has been set up as a button set so only one of the options can be selected.
Thank you Wendy! This helps a lot! I have never used button sets and I think that will solve my problem :)
Glad that Wendy was able to assist you here Jessica. Thanks for the update.
