UX/UI contribute far less to learner success than pedagogical principles.
First assimilate what you can from: Maryellen Weimar, Nancy Duarte, Garr Reynolds, and Mayer and Clark (newest editions)
You can get a lot of helpful information from The Learning Guild (https://www.learningguild.com). That group has great resources.
