Validation with layers and Custom Radio Buttons

Jul 10, 2014

Bonjour,
And sorry for my english !
I realise one Story :
1- In my slide, i've 4 questions whith customize Radio Button and variables
2- In Slide => One Plus + and One Moins - are required...and there must be four different values "Plus, Moins and the others must be different"
3- When you click only Plus or only Moins or none Plus none Moins...you have layers"Alerts"...
What i want Please, when every thing OK => One layer with button => to go to next slide...
Or Change state of Validate proposition...and when you click you go to next slide
It's very Urgent
I hope i'm Clear !

Merci beaucoup pour votre aide !

Hi Okdoo,

Welcome to the community.

I've read your description, and also looked at your slide, but I'm still a bit confused...sorry ;(.

Couple questions:

Must the "plus" and "moins" be selected, or are these simply indications of the two ends of the scale? I understand why there would be 1 through 5, but I don't understand how the plus and less figure in as choices.

You have 3 different "alerts". One indicating that there must be 4 different values, and one each about needing to select a plus and a moins. I THINK I'd put all the warnings on one layer, but I'm not entirely sure what the Plus and Moins warnings are trying to tell me.

You also have a button on a separate layer that jumps to the next slide. I think I'd put this on the base layer and set its initial state to hidden. Then change the state to normal once all your conditions are met, and change the state of the Validate Proposition button to hidden.

Not sure if that helps, or if my description is clear.

Hello Rebecca,

I thank you for your precious help..

Answers :

Must the "plus" and "moins" be selected ? Yes One Plus and One Moins must be selected inevitably

The others value must be different !

Plus=6

Moins=0

If you don't select One Plus, One Moins and the others different : Alerts

And if it's Ok, another button to go to next slide.

Please Rebecca if you can do it for me !

Your description is very very clear !

Thank you Rebecca Merci beaucoup beaucoup.... !

Hi Okdoo,

Tx for answering my questions, which made it easier for me to understand which buttons must be selected, but I think you thanked me too soon as far as being help to help you out. I would love to get this to work for you, but I'm drawing a blank. I'm hoping someone else will jump in here. I thought I'd recap:

So, I THINK the purpose of the Validate Proposition button is simply to alert the Learner that they MUST choose a Plus option button, AND a Moins options button, and at least two of the others, that is, Option buttons 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. And this works...at least, it DOES alert the Learner if they've not filled the correct buttons.

But currently if the Learner DOES fill the buttons correctly and clicks the Validate Proposition button, nothing happens. I think maybe that's why you have the "next" layer in there? The Validate Proposition button should display that layer if the buttons have been filled in correctly?

And that's where I'm having trouble: I don't know how to write a trigger that tells Storyline that all the buttons HAVE been filled in correctly with the way things are currently set up on the slide.

Also, currently you have all the totals being calculated when the Learner clicks the next button, but if you're using your own next button I think the totals would have to be linked to that button?

I also wonder if this might have been easier to set up using a Multiple Choice quiz. Jeanette Brooks, a former staff member made a Screenr on this topic. Or, I have a tutorial using a Pick One Graded quiz here

Really sorry I can't be more helpful.

Hi Okdoo,

Wow! Java, Php and Mysql...plus some other stuff! Goodness, you're way beyond me. So glad you're good to go.

Hey, "yes we can, with Storyline!" I like that! Articulate should adopt that as their tag line.

Have a good evening...or maybe it's more like the middle of the night in France? So, have a good day tomorrow.

Bonne nuit!
