Video does not run anywhere but c:/

Jul 01, 2013

Hey gang, I scanned the discussions about this issue and though I would start a new one.

I published a simple screen video with audio and highlight shapes to a network drive and the video will not play. The highlights show fine.

I saw the mime thing and am having our techs check it out. Just for grins I published to my c: drive. Everthing plays great. As a further experiment I started a trial for Art Online and published it there. No joy.

This seems to happen a lot.

I have IE 9 with flash 11.

Thanks, and Regards,

Richard

Hi Richard,

Running content from a network drive can result in some strange behavior. Do you intend to distribute your content from the network drive? If not, it might be best to publish and upload the course to an LMS, web server or publish for CD if you need to run the course locally.

To properly test your published content and share it with others, upload it to the environment for which it was published. Please review this article for details.
If you don't have access to a web server or LMS for testing, you're welcome to try Tempshare. Please keep in mind that this server is only intended for testing purposes. Also, any content uploaded here will be removed after 10 days.
Thanks!

Hi Christine,

Thanks for getting back to me. We do have a webserver we can use.

I started an Articulate Online trial to try publishing there. The video failed to play as well.

I will try tempshare and see what happens.

I will definitely avoid publishing to CD and placing the files on a network drive.

Richard

Hi Christine,

Thanks I sent my story files (html and swf). I am new to storyline and working with my network team to set up an internal web server to publish content. Operator error is definately a possibility...

I am now hip to publishing only to my c: drive.  The default install had my "my documents" articulate working folder on a network drive.

Richard

Hey Christine,

I did and cannot see the video. It looks like we have some environmental issue here causing the problems.

Cleo mention possible fiewall issues and sent some troublehooting tips. I will get our network folks to take a look at things.

This is a state agency and sometimes they have strange ideas about how things should work....

Anyway, I am trying to get e learning going at an agancy that has never used it ... with Storyline.

Regards,

Richard
