Video in sidebar

I was wondering if there is any posibility to place in the sidebar other video formats besides swf?

We're trying to cope with videos which preferably should be embeded in the sidebar (like in Presenter). Unfortunately they're mainly in flv or mp4. Perhaps you have some ideas or suggestions concerning having those on the slide area but still preserving space and the sidebar menu (menu is obligatory)?
