Video inserted as web object and published in Storyline 2 not working in LMS
Oct 28, 2016
Hi,
Our organisation has purchased a number of videos which I need to incorporate into an online course and deliver via our LMS. If I insert my videos directly into my course, my SCORM file exceeds the 250MB limit.
As there are licensing restrictions to these videos, my other option was to upload the videos to our Youtube channel. To test this, I uploaded one of the videos to our organisations Youtube channel and marked it as ‘unlisted.’ I then developed a mock-up module and inserted the video as a Web Object using the following URL: http://www.youtube.com/embed/21q51DL_iyc
I am experiencing the following issues:
- When I test if the video plays inside the storyline course, it works fine – see attachment 1
- When I publish to LMS, the course is published successfully – see attachment 2
- however when I upload the SCORM file to my LMS and launch the course, the video does not work… the slide containing the video appears blank – see attachement 3
Can someone please advise how I get this to work?

Hi Lucille
try running your course in Scormcloud - that will let you know if it's an issue with your course or the LMS
Thanks Wendy and Matthew for such a quick response!
I uploaded and launched the course in Scormcloud. It seems to have loaded successfully (see attachment) however the slide with the video still appears as a blank screen.
Any ideas as to what I do next?
Thanks for your support.

Hi Lucille
it must be a browser setting.
I published it and loaded in Scormcloud...
It doesn't play in Chrome but it plays in IE
Hi Wendy,
Thank you for taking the time to test this for me.
I tried to open using IE but still have the same issue. Will explore my browser settings and it is heartening to know that you managed to get it to work.
I shall persevere!! :)
Kind regards
Lucille
Hi Lucille,
just quick jumping in and asking: Do you have the latest update of storyline (11)? Sometimes even this little thing could cause problems or solve them. :) And are your browsers up to date?
Hi Lucille,
Thanks for taking the time to reach out here! Try changing the youtube link to "https" rather than "http". That has resolved this type of issue in the past in LMS environments as documented here. Let me know how that goes!
Also- just wanted to let you know that when you reply to a thread via email, your comment will include your email signature. You're welcome to pop in and edit out any personal info if desired. :)
Hi Ali,
Thank you so much for the tip. I changed the link to "https" and it worked!!
I so appreciate the willingness of all to jump in and help out. Big thumbs up to this community!
Thanks again.
Great Lucille! So happy that worked for you, thanks so much for popping in with an update here! And I must agree, this community is filled with some incredible folks :)
