Once you have a video in SL, would it be massively difficult to allow it to be manipulated - for example, rotated using a "green button" like an image, or putting a "perspective" angling on it?
Just wondered whether it was even sensible to submit this as a feeature request.
You can always submit a request. I'd offer up a rationale for the request, as well, so that the developers understand what you want and where it brings value. It helps them prioritize which features to commit resources to.
1) Create a shape a little bigger than your video.
2) Send this shape behind your video.
3) Group the video and this shape.
4) Preview
Haven't tested how this works in the HTML5 output (guess is not), but in an earlier RC this method worked to rotate the video in published Flash output.
Steve, I've actually tried doing this, but after grouping, when I try to rotate, it only rotates the shape beneath the video, not the video. Any ideas?
So I've tried this, and am still having a number of problems with it. As you noted, the video stays unrotated inside Storyline, but is rotated in edit mode (which makes it tricky to place correctly on the slide). AND to further complicate things, it isn't showing at all when I preview the slide (though it is still there sideways in Storyline, and right side up in video edit mode). Any suggestions? Have you run into this issue before?
This thread is a bit older (about a year ago) and I'm not sure that those who previously replied to this thread are still subscribed. You mentioned not seeing the video when you preview, but is it there when you publish? To properly test it, you'll want to publish and then place within the intended environment to prevent any odd behavior from local security restrictions

Hi Bruce,
No need to submit that particular one. I've already got a feature request for that in the system. Thanks!
Thanks!
Bruce

What's the url these days for Features/Bugs?
Is it a "sticky" somewhere?
Bruce
Hi Bruce,
Feature and support requests can be submitted here:

You actually *can* rotate a video. Try this:
1) Create a shape a little bigger than your video.
2) Send this shape behind your video.
3) Group the video and this shape.
4) Preview

Right, as you stated, Steve, this works but in preview only. The video stays unrotated in edit mode inside Storyline.
